Distinguished and Famous people from The Clyde Coast
🌟 Francis Guy
Francis Guy developed businesses at Nelligen and Batemans Bay during the nineteenth century, combining stores, sawmills and shipping. He recognised the demand for south-coast hardwood and helped connect local timber production with markets reached by sea. His interests included the Steampacket Hotel at Nelligen, and he served on the early school boards at both towns. The Clyde connection is a network of enterprises along the river and coast, where moving goods could matter as much as producing them. His surviving business history helps explain the district's development as a timber and trading centre.
